At the Waters Edge with Caroline Waters

Caroline Waters, perhaps better known in Norway as Caroline Asplin, will be giving two concerts at Oscarsborg this weekend. Friday and Saturday she performs free shows in the harbor, right on the edge of the water by Kaholmsundet, where she is also releasing her third solo CD.

Caroline Waters has been residing in Los Angeles for the last eight years, and has achieved a measurable name in the Californian jazz-pop environment. Now she is on a summer visit to Norway, to release the CD, Venus Envy. Her third solo CD and second concert visit to Drøbak.

“I have friends here and am very excited to be performing at Oscarsborg,” she says.

Measurable Star
Waters has grown to be a measurable star in the USA, last but not least in California, and her last CD has received rave reviews. But this did not happen “overnight.”

“That’s right,” says Caroline and laughs.

“It has been a five-year project, and the record went through several production phases before everything fell into place. A lot happened in this time-period, things that changed me and gave me new perspective on life.”

“Does that mean your life is not just about music?”

“Yes, I have been interested in exploring the body and the soul’s sensuality and spirituality, in order to dive deeper into me, for a long time. I am also interested in healing, and through studies, craniosacral therapy education and travels, I have transferred the body’s powerful energies to musical movements and expressions…If that makes sense,” she adds.

Many Talents
Through her entire childhood and into her adult life, Caroline has worked often and hard with daddy Per Asplin. When she was 22 years old, she said it was enough and took charge of her own career. She will bring her guitar, piano, perhaps a violin and soundtracks in a box with her to Oscarsborg.
