It forgives the vulnerable self in "Please Let Me Cry":
I stood with a smile on my face, when I told him to leave me alone,
And I noticed the tears in my eyes, in the evening when my anger was gone.
...I never cry for myself, just feel anger or compassion.
I can sacrifice my pride, I can fly with the thunder that is welling up inside.
It remembers the frightened self in "Standing in the Hallway":
She didn't wanna think about the screaming in her head
Every time they took her childhood away.
But the title song which "bookends" this album, offers its "Compassion" with beauty for all survivors:
When you tell me 'bout your life and what they did to you before
I just feel so much compassion, I can't take anymore.
...Looking out on the sunrise, through your eyes
'Cause I can't really cope with the tears in my own eyes.
Listening to this CD helps me cope.
