Norwegian singer songwriter Caroline Waters packed the Café Cordiale last Thursday night for a set featuring songs from her new CD, titled Venus Envy. Produced by Greg Mathieson, who has worked with Babs and Cher, this is Caroline's first US release. The Norse siren recently relocated to LA from Norway, where she has been a well-known performer since her musical debut at three years of age. Influences from Sade to Basia to Joni Mitchell can be heard in this diva's smooth jazz pop songs, which were slightly funkified with a smoking rhythm section. Caroline explained to the crowd that she was not her usual energetic self as she had recently taken a nasty fall while high speed rollerblading, but if it was your first time seeing her, you would not have noticed.
