WATERS HAS OBVIOUSLY done what “is right for me”. She recently made a promotional tour to France and Austria, plugging her new music video, “I Am Venus”. Invited by Music Export Norway to be part of their exhibit at Midem in Cannes, the music video played continuously on nine screens at Palais de Festivals for the entire week.
“As a result, I had more than 100 meetings with record and distribution companies from 24 countries.”
Waters also visited Nice, Vienna and Bratislava, in preparation for a potential full-scale tour of Europe in the not too distant future. “The Italians loved seeing Venus in a CD format,” she said.
And see Venus they did! The “I Am Venus” music video is a mirage of images – Caroline live in concert with her band (featuring Abe Laboriel on bass, Katisse Buckingham on flute, Aaron Sterling on drums and Cassandra Costogue singing back-up vocals), shots of Caroline as Venus in the waves of Venice Beach, interlaced with the Venus image featured on the cover of her newest album, “Venus Envy”.
THE ALBUM COVER features Ed Freeman’s photographic rendition of Caroline matching the Venus in Botticelli’s famous painting of “The Birth of Venus”.
Waters is a remarkable double for the goddess. Her red hair flows behind her in a complex stream of burnished tresses, matching the famous painting. There is even a facial likeness. As for the rest of the image, Waters stands poised on a giant gilded scallop shell, her cupped hands providing a touch of modesty to an otherwise completely natural state.
“Venus Envy”, the third full-length release for Waters, was recorded at her Los Angeles studio, and she herself wrote all of the songs except one.
WATERS NOT ONLY has a gifted voice, but is a talented and inspired songwriter, lyricist and multi-instrumentalist (playing keyboards, acoustic guitar and percussion on this album). She wrote most of the number is “Venus Envy”, and also wrote, arranged, performed, produced and released her first solo album, “Compassion” on her own record label, CIA Productions.
She was headhunted by MTG Productions and Sony Music Norway for her second solo album, “Talk With Eve”, which was distributed throughout Europe. “Talk With Eve” is a live recording from Cosmopolite in Oslo.
Waters was born in Oslo. Her father was Per Asplin, a well-known singer and jazz pianist. Caroline Watched him work and worked side by side with him most of her childhood, composing, performing and producing concerts, musicals, television series and albums.
She got her first film role when she was 3 years old in the Norwegian Christmas show “Putti Plutti Pott”, which has aired on national television in Norway every Christmas Eve for more than two decades.
